Snowflake Challenge - Day 6

For akamine_chan's Snowflake Challenge:

Day 6

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) and that you ended up loving.

1.) Pairing/Genre - Femslash:

The Universal Language
Author: srin
Reader: sophinisba
Fandom: Merlin (BBC)
Pairing/Characters: Gwen/Morgana, Morgana/OFCs, Gwen/Merlin
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Non-graphic reference to gay-bashing of an OC, non-graphic references to other violence. (The rating is for sexual content, not violence.)
Length: ~14,300 words / 1h:35min:29sec

Summary: In which Morgana remembers her history, and seeks some manner of reconciliation with her present. (Modern reincarnation.)

I love strong female characters, but I'm normally not interested in femslash and would probably never have read srin's story on my own. That's why I was hesitating a long time before I downloaded sophinisba's wonderfully read podfic.

2.) Kink - Noncon/dubcon:

A Thorough Examination/In Depth
Author: emungere
Reader: crinklysolution
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing/Characters: Sherlock/John
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Noncon, dubcon, psychological manipulation, thoughts and discussion of suicide. Medical fetish, sounding, e-stim, use of a gun during sex. Dark.
Length: ~17,000 words / 1h:55min:28sec

Summary: Written for the prompt - Sherlock/Dark!John. Medical fetish.

Noncon/Dubcon is one of my few squicks, which makes me skip even stories of my favourite authors. Podfics are a little different though, as they are in my eyes recommendations by the readers. I trust several podficers, crinklysolution included, not to record something, that stretches my bounderies too much.

And yes, it's dark and twisted, but also sexy as hell and it works for these versions of John and Sherlock.

3.) Fandom - Moonlight:

"You Spin Me" vid
Vidder: keerawa
Fandom: Moonlight
Pairing/Characters: Mick St. John and Beth
Rating & Warnings: R for blatant heterosexuality and canonical creepy vampire pedophiliac stalkeriness.
Song: "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)", by the Dope
Length: 2:49 min

Summary: Mick has his little infatuation with Beth completely under control.

My first and only thought about 'Moonlight' was for a long time: "Not another tv show about a vampire with a conscience working as a PI!"

Then keerawa made a vid and wrote in her post:
The Show: Did anyone even see 'Moonlight' before it was cancelled? Mick St. John is a vampire living as a PI in LA. (Déjà vu, anyone?) He has a Thing for Beth, and has since he rescued her from another vampire at the tender age of five. I'm serious. And this was on network TV. Apparently, Beth's into that kind of thing, and just wants him to get over his commitment issues.

I read that, watched the video several times in a row and ended up buying the DVDs.
